Martha Stewart does not like millennials. Yes, her company may be pushing products at the younger generation, but that doesn’t mean she has to understand them.

“I think every business is trying to target millennials. But who are millennials?” Stewart said in an interview with Luxury Listings. “Now we are finding out they are living with their parents.”

Martha, you know so much and the millennials have to know this stuff!

Cold. Ice cold. But she went on: “They don’t have the initiative to go out and find a little apartment and grow a tomato plant on the terrace.”

“I understand the plight of younger people,” she said. “The economic circumstances out there are very grim. But you have to work for it. You have to strive for it. You have to go after it.”

Juggling school and a job? No matter! In case you need a role model, Stewart, who once spent five months in jail for lying to federal investigators, added, “I got married at 19 and I immediately got an apartment and I fixed it up. I was very proud of everything I did. I got the furniture at auctions for pennies. Beautiful furniture. My apartments were lovely and homey and comfortable.”

Stewart, 74, said she was inspired by Momofuku’s David Chang to help millennials aspire to more: “David Chang kept saying, ‘Martha, you know so much and the millennials have to know this stuff! They don’t know anything and they have to learn. They want to learn but they have grown up without teachers. They know how to make money and how to develop software, but they don’t know how to plant a tree. They don’t know how to grow spinach.'”

You hear that, millennials? Quit coding and go plant some seeds! Buy an armoire while you’re at it. Start using the word armoire. Make Martha Stewart proud.
